Curriculum Details

Montessori Curriculum Overview

Our Montessori curriculum is designed to nurture each child’s natural curiosity, independence, and love for learning. Rooted in hands-on exploration and self-directed discovery,

our programme allows children to learn at their own pace while being guided by trained Montessori educators. The learning environment is carefully prepared

with materials that support physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.

We focus on six key areas of learning:

Practical Life

Children learn essential life skills such as care of self, care of the environment, coordination, and concentration. These activities build independence, confidence, and responsibility.

Sensorial Education

Students explore materials that help them refine their senses—touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste. These exercises strengthen observation, comparison, and problem-solving skills.

Language Development

Through phonics, storytelling, reading, and writing activities, children develop strong communication skills. Our approach builds vocabulary, literacy, and self-expression.

Mathematics

Using concrete materials such as number rods, beads, and counters, children learn mathematical concepts including counting, place value, operations, and problem-solving with clarity and confidence.

Cultural Studies

This includes geography, science, history, and social studies. Children gain an understanding of the world, different cultures, nature, and how things work around them.

Creative Arts & Movement

Art, music, drama, and physical activities allow students to express themselves freely, develop fine and gross motor skills, and build creativity.

Learning is fun at Forté Yard Montessori School. Our learning is organized as follows:

Creche

Our school Crèche is a haven for little ones, providing a clean, safe, and nurturing environment where they can thrive. Our loving caregivers are dedicated to giving your children the best possible start in life, with engaging activities and play-based learning. From music to hands-on activities, we ensure your child is always stimulated and entertained. With a low child-to-staff ratio, we provide individualized attention and care, so you can trust that your child is in good hands . Our Crèche is designed to promote socialization, emotional growth, and cognitive development, laying a strong foundation for future success.

Pre- School

Our preschool learning is carefully structured for children aged 18 months to 5 years. Our program combines the Montessori method with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, providing a holistic foundation for young learners.

Elementary

We operate a blended curriculum that combines the British and Nigerian National Curricula. Our core subjects are English, Mathematics, and Science. In addition, students learn Geography, History, Art, Physical Education, Nigerian Cultural Studies (NCS), and French.

After-School

Our After-School Programme is designed to give students a safe, enriching, and enjoyable environment beyond regular school hours. We understand that learning doesn’t stop at the end of the school day, so we offer a structured yet relaxed space where children can explore their interests, complete homework, and develop new skills.
